Year 2

Year 2 is an exciting year where your child will learn how to become more  independent whilst having plenty of fun! In year two, we strive for excellence and encourage children to be ambitious and successful learners. Throughout the year, your child will further develop their skills in reading, writing and maths. They will study different topics, including their local area, Africa and the seaside.

At Elms Farm, we recognise that year 2 is an important year as the children complete non-statutory assessments before they move into KS2.

In year 2, the children will be expected to read at home every evening and practise weekly spellings. This is important as it consolidates the skills that they have learnt in school.

The children have been learning about the significant person their class is named after. Elgar class have painted some excellent portraits and O'Keeffe class have painted some flowers inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe.
